If so, you may have experienced frostbite, which WebMD describes as “freezing of body tissue (usually skin) that results the blood vessels contract and cause loss of oxygen to the affected body parts.”

If you’ve experienced frostbite, you know just how serious it can be. In its most mild form, you may lose sensation. In more serious cases, blood flow can be restricted or stopped to a particular body part, which can cause permanent damage to nerves, muscles, tendons, etc.

Before you head outdoors this winter, take some time to learn more about the warning signs of frostbite and what you can do to prevent it!
